Simon’s Olympic Dash

Simon has been training for the “Pets with Special Needs Olympics” in the 50 meter dash which took place right here in our house last night. As you can see he had a little slip about half way through, but still managed to finish the race to the roar of the crowd and take home Gold! We’re so proud of our little athlete 🙂

I have to admit that last night I was lost without the Olympics. It was comforting to know that I could sit down and watch some type of sporting event every night. Sure, it kept me up until midnight for 2 weeks but it was worth it. My favorite part was watching the figure skating events. It wasn’t the skaters themselves that I enjoyed so much, but the announcer Dick Button. What’s up with that guy? If you saw the competition, you probably know what I’m talking about. But if you didn’t, then here’s a little sample of what you missed. First of all to set the stage a little, Button is a former skater himself and in his mid-70’s. OK, lets say we’re watching a pair of skaters from Russia. They put on a flawless performance and the crowd goes into a frenzy. When they’re finished, he says stuff, over the roar of the audience, like “that was very unemotional”, “It didn’t move me at all”, “Their choreography needs a lot of help”. (more…)
