Me and Tommy have been practicing our “Family Manners” skills. As you can tell, I’m a pro at them, but Tommy is just starting out. He gets so excited that he can hardly keep from bouncing out of his fur and his snotty little nose starts running! I have to admit, I’ve been impressed with how quickly he’s been picking them up. I like to think it’s because I’m such a great teacher 🙂

Last night I attended class for the first time. And let me tell you, it was Pawesome! At first I was a little scared riding over in the car. I don’t usually get to go out like that at night. We arrived early so we could closely inspect the parking lot and leave some p-mail for other pups. Also, Pop didn’t want any bad experiences with my new classmates on my first night so we hung outside until Mom called us in. Once inside, my head just started spinning with excitement and I couldn’t have stopped tail thumping if my life depended on it! Class consists of six furry faces ranging in size from iddy-biddy to xtra-large. There is a beautifully fluffy Sheltie, a most handsome sweater wearing miniature long-haired wiener dog, and a tough on the exterior but sweet as can be Boston Terrier (like Petra but not as cute of course). Her name is Harley and she was sporting a fabulous winter parka. Then there was a black lab pup that towered over all of us and all he wanted to do was have some fun. He looked like a handful! And finally there was William Henry . . . he is absolutely dreamy. He is a Blenheim Cavalier King Charles and looks a lot like me. Only smaller. I would like to meet him before class is over. :inlove:
So to get on with the good stuff. This week I have to earn my treats. I knew it was too good to be true. I am learning how to sit (which I already knew so that one is easy), come, make eye contact with my parents, and settle (sit still and stop being annoying). I have to say, I’m a quick study and I’ve got these down after only one day! But I’ll still practice all week if for nothing else than to get my treats 😉
Answer to last week’s poll question: If you answered “Teacher’s Pet” you got it right! Well, I wasn’t exactly the teachers pet, but I didn’t piddle on the floor, growl at any other pups, or sit, shaking on my mom’s lap. I sat like a good girl and watched the teacher (when I wasn’t stealing a glance at William Henry). 🙂
Well, gotta go. I think I hear my Pop calling.
My pawrents went to MY first “Family Manners” class on Tuesday (I had to stay home because it was for people only). :dog: They learned a little about the teacher and what they should expect from the class. The training is reward based which means that no harsh words or nasty metal pronged collars. Instead, I get to feast on treats! This is going to be sooo awesome! My homework for this week is to eat 5 treats two times a day! That’s 10 Treats!! How awesome is that? I don’t even have to sit or do any crazy tricks. They just give them to me. Mom bought me these really tasty and healthy snacks. One flavor is Salmon and the other is Duck. I love them both. There is one strange accurance that is happening though. Each time I get a treat, Mom or Pop says “Yes” to me. I wonder what that’s all about? Oh well. I can’t wait to do my homework today!
